Finding documents by status in a patient chart
When in a patient’s chart, you can always search for documents by their status. For example, documents in REVIEW status have not been signed by a clinician:
These are the relevant document statuses that you can search for:
Status | Definition |
ADMINISTER | Medication and vaccines generally routed to nursing for patient administration. |
CANCELLED | Orders that have been canceled. |
CLASSIFY | Unknown documents awaiting classification by Athena (very very rare), probably not very helpful. |
CLOSED | Most documents should be closed, so probably not very helpful. |
DATAENTRY | Documents that are incomplete. |
DELETED | Documents that have been deleted. |
DISPENSE | Medication and vaccines generally routed to nursing for dispensing to a patient. |
FOLLOWUP | Documents that require follow-up (usually lab/imaging results or referral orders). |
HOLD | Documents awaiting reclassification further research or action. |
NOTIFY | Documents that require contact with the patient (usually lab/imaging results or prescriptions). |
OPEN | Encounters awaiting closure by the clinical provider. |
PEND | Future orders or appointments that have been signed but not yet submitted. |
PENDINGLABEL | Documents that have not yet been labeled. |
PERFORM | Orders that need additional processing (often in-house lab specimens). |
PREP | Documents associated with pre-visit planning. |
QUEUE | Documents queued for processing (rare status usually incoming faxes), so probably not very helpful. |
REVIEW | Documents requiring clinician review (lab/imaging results, prescription renewals, clinical documents). |
SCHEDULE | Tasks or orders to be scheduled by practice staff for example return to office (RTO) visits. |
