Using the Patient Resource Center
The Patient Resource Center is designed for clinicians - not for patients to use directly. Clinicians find resources here, and send links to their patients. Patients can view the handouts and websites you text them directly on their phones. You can also send links by Portal Message or email, or just print a handout for your patient!
Sending a link via text message is especially powerful. You can text while the patient is standing in front of you, or while on telehealth with them, and they will get it on the spot. This is an alternative to giving physical handouts, and easier! Plus, if we update a handout, it is updated for everyone.
Texting a handout or web link to a patient via Doximity
Clinician's point of view:
Open the Patient Resource Center from the big button in the Clinical Help Center - and then bookmark it!
Browse the categories to find the handout or web link you want
Right-click on the item, and choose “Copy link address” from the dropdown:
**Note: if you are browsing an outside resource page, like MedLine Plus Handouts, you can also right-click and “Copy link address” for the handouts there. Then go back to the Patient Resource Center and follow the instructions below.
Now click the “Doximity Text” link at the bottom of the page, by the “Text me!” icon. Or, if you already have Doximity Dialer open on another browser tab, you can just go to that tab.
Once in Doximity, enter the patient’s Cell Phone number, and click “Text”:
Paste the link into the text message - and type anything else you want to say. Click “Send Text”.
Patient’s point of view:
Patient receives a text message a few seconds after the clinician sends it. If the clinician’s name is in their Doximity account, it appears in the message automatically:
The patient clicks the link in the text message, and they see this:
They click the link in the message, and it displays the handout or website directly on their phone!
Note: You can also paste the link somewhere else, like a Portal Message or an email. Or, you can just click the handout in the Resource Center and print it for your patient!
